HEAT TREATMENT AND PROCESSES
Heat treatment
| Heat Treatment Process | Temperature (°C) | Details |

| Annealing | 850-900 | Heat uniformly, hold until soaked, cool slowly in furnace. |
| Stress Relieving | 600-700 | Heat to specified temperature, hold for 2 hours, then air cool. |
| Hardening (Step 1) | 450 - 500 | Preheat uniformly, hold until soaked. |
| Hardening (Step 2) | 850 - 900 | Heat uniformly, hold until soaked, quench in oil, salt bath, or air. Austenitise at a temperature suitable for chosen working hardness. |
| Tempering | 540-600 | Reheat, hold for at least one hour per inch of thickness, air cool. |
